01  —  The Dallas market

Buying fog machines in Dallas

Atmospheric effects — haze to make beams visible, low-lying fog for ground effects, and high-output foggers for dramatic reveals. This page covers buying them specifically in Dallas — who buys here, what the local work demands, and how to get fixtures direct instead of through a distributor markup.

Dallas-Fort Worth buys for permanent installs more than most markets. A large share of equipment sold here goes into a venue or worship space to stay, so buyers weigh warranty, parts availability and how it will look in year five.

For fog machines, Dallas demand concentrates around church and worship services and weddings and receptions, with fixtures going into rooms ranging from Deep Ellum music venues to the smaller stages and studios around Frisco. The buyers are mostly venue owners and managers and AV integrators serving the metroplex.

02  —  Specification guide

What to look for before you specify

Five decisions that determine whether a fixture fits the room.

01

Haze versus fog

Haze is a fine, even, long-hanging atmosphere whose only job is to make light beams visible. Fog is dense and visible in its own right. If you want your moving heads to read in the air, you want haze, not fog.

02

Low-lying fog

Ground fog that stays at ankle height requires chilling — either a dedicated low-lying machine or a fog machine paired with ice. Standard foggers rise and fill the room instead.

03

Fluid type

Water-based fluid is cleaner, safer around sensitive equipment, and required in most venues. Oil-based haze hangs longer but is banned in many rooms.

04

Output and coverage

Match machine output to room volume. An undersized machine run flat out constantly is worse than a larger machine idling gently.

05

Fire alarm considerations

Any atmospheric effect can trip smoke detection. Coordinate with the venue and the fire marshal before a show, every time.

04  —  Buy direct

Why buy direct from Acue

Acue Express carries its own line and ships it from Van Nuys, California. For Dallas customers that means three concrete things: direct pricing with no distributor tier, consistent stock so a multi-unit order arrives matched, and warranty support handled by Acue rather than a third party.

Because we carry our own line rather than reselling someone else's, metroplex customers planning an install can count on the same model being available to expand later.

06  —  Questions

Frequently asked

Still unsure? Call 818-646-7526 and talk to someone who has hung these fixtures.

What is the difference between fog and haze?

Fog is dense, opaque, and visible as an effect in its own right — used for reveals, ground effects, and dramatic entrances. Haze is a fine, nearly invisible suspension whose purpose is to reveal light beams in the air. Concert and club rigs almost always want haze.

Will a fog machine set off fire alarms?

It can. Optical smoke detectors cannot reliably distinguish theatrical fog from smoke. Always notify the venue in advance, and in many cases the fire alarm system must be temporarily isolated by an authorised person before the show.

How do I get fog to stay low to the ground?

You need chilled fog. A dedicated low-lying fog machine cools the output so it hangs at floor level, which is the effect used for first dances and dramatic stage reveals. An unchilled fogger will rise and fill the room instead.

What fluid should I use?

Use water-based fluid from a reputable source, matched to your machine. Water-based fluid is cleaner, leaves less residue on fixtures and surfaces, and is accepted in far more venues than oil-based alternatives.

Do you deliver fog machines to Dallas?

Yes. We ship fog machines to Dallas and throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex from our Van Nuys, California facility. Dallas-Fort Worth is a two-to-three-day freight lane with excellent metroplex-wide delivery coverage.

Can I get help specifying fog machines for a Dallas venue?

Yes — call 818-646-7526. We will work through room dimensions, throw distances, power availability and quantities before you order. For Dallas projects that usually saves more money than any discount, because the most expensive mistake is buying the wrong fixture count.
